Rosita Kuster Serra

Prescott, AZ - Rosita Kuster Serra, 90, died peacefully with family by her side September 11, 2021 at Granite Gate Senior Living Center.  She was born January 18, 1931, in Concepcion, Chile, the daughter of Gustavo and Albertina Kuster.

 

Rosita grew up in Chile and graduated from Universidad de Chile School of Dentistry with distinction Cum Laude as Rosa Inés Kuster Zbinden on the 28th of July, 1954.  Following graduation, she had a successful dental practice in Concepcion.  While taking courses in English, she met Lorenzo Conrads Serra, a Civil Engineer. Following their courtship, they married on the 10th of October, 1959.

 

During their marriage, Dr. Serra and Lorenzo Serra had 5 children, Gustavo, Marlys, Vivianne, Ingrid, and Kenneth.  In 1970 Rosita and Lorenzo Serra immigrated with their family to the United States where they made a fruitful and meaningful life working hard and raising a young family.  Rosita and Lorenzo were married for 23 years until their divorce in 1982.  They remained close friends until his death in 1995.

 

Dr. Rosita Serra was an avid lifelong learner and world traveler having set foot on every continent except Antarctica.  Over the course of her life she learned to speak 5 languages. In her retirement years she delighted in caring for and grooming her Shih Tzu dogs.  She was fiercely loyal to her children and family.  She spent much of her time traveling, learning, maintaining her properties and gardens,  and spending time with her dear companion Everett Woolum. In the later years of her life she lived in proximity to her daughters including Ingrid in Rocklin, CA, Marlys, in Redding CA, and Vivianne in Seattle WA, and Prescott, AZ.  She was a beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, and friend.

 

Rosita is survived by her brother, Gustavo and his family, Her eldest son Gustavo and his family, Her eldest daughter Marlys and her family Her daughter Vivianne and her family, Her youngest daughter, Ingrid and her family, as well as her youngest son, Kenneth, and his family, as well as her dear friends, both local, and around the world.

 

A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at 11:00 am PDT on Saturday, April 30th 2022, for close family and friends in the mausoleum at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road, San Jose, California 95124.  For those close family and friends unable to attend in person the event will be livestreamed, please see below for details and registration information. If you are unable to attend in person or virtually, a link to a recording of the ceremony will be available on this webpage shortly following the ceremony.
