Eric Rooney, 56, who resided in Broome County, Binghamton, NY died unexpectedly at home on December 4, 2022 due to complications from COVID-19.

Eric was born on July 22, 1966 in Harlem, New York to Annie Ruth Rooney. He was the youngest of 4 children which includes his siblings Roderick, Gerald, and Cherlyn.

Eric lived in Broome County for many years where he built a career as a chef. He worked for the last 8 years at The Binghamton Club, which was like his second home. He enjoyed working there and loved all of the people he worked with. Eric was also known to be a skillful baker of delicious and beautifully decorated desserts and pastries. Eric was an old soul who could be the life of the party or, at other times, he could be the quietest one in the room. His greatest joy was getting on his motorcycle and just riding. For those who knew him, Eric will definitely be remembered for his kindness, unpretentiousness, and perpetual smile.

Eric will sorely be missed and is survived by: his Mother Annie Ruth, Brothers Roderick, Gerald, and Sister Cherlyn; his Children, Treyvon, Jasmine, Eric, Anaya, Michael and Makai; Aunts Mattie, Lucille, Katherine, many Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, Extended Family; Kashawna Lynn, Norm and Marie, and Friends. He is predeceased by his Grandmother, Rose Rooney, Uncles Horace and Raymond, and Aunts Louise, Gladys, and Rosa Ella.

The family welcomes friends to join a memorial service (virtual) to be held on Thursday December 29, 2022 at 6:00PM to celebrate Eric’s life. Eric will be put to rest in a private ceremony.
