Marja Oldknow

Marja Anna Oldknow departed this physical life on the seventh day of January, in the year two thousand and twenty-two.  Marja had just reached the age of seventy-five.  Marja was born in Rotterdam, Holland to parents Wilhelm and Catherine Flock. At the age of nine, Marja, her parents and two older sisters, Theodora and Catharina immigrated to the United States in the year One thousand nine hundred and fifty-six. Marja became a United States citizen in the year One thousand nine hundred and sixty-one.

Marja is survived by her two older sisters, Theodora and Catharina. Her three children, Jacquelyn, James and Stephen. Her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaitlin, Trevor, Allyson, Justin, Marc, Brandon, Anna and Olivia. Her great-grandchildren, Skylar, Levi, Gavin, Emerson, Braiden, Zachary, Alexis, and Piper.

Marja grew up in San Francisco, California, with her parents and sisters. She married and moved to Martinez, California, where she lived the remainder of her life. Marja was a loving, stay-at-home Mom for many years.  When she became a single parent, she joined the work force as an Optician for a thirty-year career.

Marja loved her family first, her faith, her friends, and her work.  She did her best to integrate all four.  Her greatest strength was service to others. In her work and in her volunteer work.  Marja was a very dedicated Christian.  She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and Savior.  Marja’s continuous study of the Holy Bible at church and with her closest friends was a great support and love of hers throughout her life.

Marja’s cause of death was cancer.  She passed in her home in the company of two of her children.  She passed peacefully in her sleep, without any pain.

Marja will always be remembered, loved, and missed by her family, friends, and all the lives she touched.
